The Financial Meltdown: Intellectual Curiosity, Honesty, and Debate--How Much of What You Have Been Told is True?

After witnessing the financial meltdown in 2008-2009, do you ever wonder how much of the underlying financial theory is in fact true? This session will explore this question through recourse to intellectual curiosity, honesty, and debate. Intellectual curiosity asks the question, “I wonder if that is true”, where as intellectual honesty compares the actual facts and data points against the underlying theory. Finally, intellectual debate asks why the facts might not line up with the theory. This talk will address stimulating and provocative questions, both financial and non-financial.
