Europe's Crisis and the Christian Response to It

There is little doubt that Europe is in the midst of a severe crisis on many different levels, including a crisis of (spiritual) identity, culture, economics, and values. However, it is not enough for Christians merely to identify the symptoms and effects of the crisis, but to try to achieve a correct diagnosis of the causes of the crisis, as well as outline the contours of a truly Biblical, Christian response to the crisis. So after an attempt to uncover some of the deeper causes of the present situation, the speaker will give some suggestions about how Christians and churches could and should react to this situation in a winsome and humble, but at the same time clear and decisive manner. Questions that will be discussed include the following:

  • How does migration change Europe and what does that mean for Christians?
  • Should Christians talk about values and/or truth?
  • Should Christians try to influence politics and legislation?
  • How can Christians avoid bigotry?
  • How should churches prepare for economically difficult times?
