The Resurrection of Jesus from the Perspective of a Historian
The resurrection of Jesus is the basis of the Christian faith (1. Corinthians 15: 14,17): ”If Christ has not been raised your faith is in vain ... if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins”) and Christian hope (1. Peter 1: 3, “we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”). Therefore, Christians around the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus at Easter and every Sunday. Therefore, too, Christians are interested in history. What can a historian say about the resurrection of Jesus? What evidence and which sources are reliable?
