Church Planting Mentoring

CHURCH PLANTING MENTORING

Central to the Great Commission is the idea of planting new churches.  But as any church planter knows there are countless difficulties involved in this endeavour.  Many church planters feel cut off from the resources that will make them successful in the long term. Others wish they were more familiar with the best practices of church planting.  Still others feel bewildered and discouraged when trying to untie a particularly difficult “knot” in a church plant.  Forum Church Planting Mentoring has been designed to provide guidance to church planters who are struggling with issues such as these.

CHURCH PLANTING MENTORS

Daniel Goering came to faith shortly after finishing university and has invested his life in planting churches, first across the midwest of the U.S., then across Europe.  He and his family (wife and now six children) started in Dortmund, Germany, and now live and serve near Cologne, Germany.  They have been a part of seeing four German churches planted, which are led by nationals.  He also coaches church-planting movements in Italy, Spain and Poland, in his capacity as Co-Director of Great Commission Europe.

Jay Pinney and wife Kathy arrived as missionaries in Quebec in 1987 and planted a French speaking church as part of a missionary team.  He is now the Quebec regional coordinator for Church Planting Canada, helping a number of denominations plant more churches. Jay teaches church planting principles in several venues in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada. He also serves in a counseling ministry in Quebec focused on forgiveness and reconciliation and in a ministry mobilizing Canadian Christians to reach out to Muslims in Canada.  Jay has an MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and did a DMin at Fuller Seminary focusing on leader health and developing coaching tools for church planters. He and Kathy have four children aged 22 to 15.

Dietrich Schindler is a German-American missionary church planter who is currently the executive director of church planting for the Evangelical Free Church of Germany (Bund Freier evangelischer Gemeinden). Under his leadership the denomination is striving to plant 100 new churches in Germany in ten years. After five years 54 churches have been planted. He has himself planted five churches in Germany and has written and lectured on what it would take to see a church planting multiplication movement to take root in Germany and in Europe. Dietrich has been married to Jan Carla for thirty years, and they have three adult children.
